When You Are Neglected, Choose To Encourage - by Tom Holladay

“Encourage anyone who feels left out, help all who are weak, and be patient with everyone.” 1 Thessalonians 5:14 (CEV)

When you are feeling neglected, overlooked, or ignored, what is your natural reaction? It depends on your personality, but you will probably either want to withdraw and take the approach of “you ignore me and I’ll ignore you,” or you’ll seek out a way to get that person’s attention. Either way, it’s all about you.

God wants you to choose a different reaction. With his controlled power, he wants you to make the gentle choice to focus on others. If you’re feeling neglected, chances are somebody else is feeling that way too, and you have the opportunity to do something for him or her because you can empathize.

Finding someone to encourage will get you out of the downward spiral of self-pity; you are now looking out for others and seeking to make a difference in their lives.

As today’s verse tells us, it’s important to look for someone who most other people wouldn’t encourage. A lot of people like to encourage or help powerful people because it might give them a leg up on something. But God wants us to “encourage anyone who feels left out” and “help those who are weak” (1 Thessalonians 5:14 CEV).

Who do you need to encourage? Take a moment to consider someone you know who might be feeling neglected or overlooked. Maybe it’s somebody in your office, school or neighborhood.

Then take some time to follow Hebrews 10:24 and “think of ways to encourage one anther to outbursts of love and good deeds” (NLT). Maybe write them a quick note or take them out to lunch.

Those small acts have the power to change not only their lives, but yours as well. Instead of turning inward and allowing neglect to eat away at you, turn outward and use God’s power in your life to serve others. It’s ministry, it’s powerful, and it makes a difference.

I don't feel like I'm in school anymore.

It feels like I'm completely done with my finals.

When I haven't sat for one yet.

One's in 14 hours and another's on Monday.

Well, the one on Monday is speech class, so that's easy.

I am so tired.

I just want to back to Singapore and Indonesia.

And to go for my little getaways.

I just feel like staying on my bed in my little comfy room in Singapore.

And just sleep all day long.

Or get my friends to come over where we can catch up with one another.

I can't wait to go back to Indonesia after that.

So I can meet all of my friends here back there.

Such fun.

I finally can say I have plenty of friends back in Indonesia.

I can't wait for the little Thailand shopping trip with Mommy, aunts and cousins.

A pampering little retail therapy trip.

And I'm still waiting on news for the Hong Kong trip that Aly asked me about.

And I don't know if Bali's still happening.

So many things to do.

But all of those seem to be me just being in a different country to just rest.

2 months will fly by so quickly.

I somehow can't wait to return to LA already.

I am too weird to be true.

I have so many things I want to talk about.

But I don't know where to start.

And I don't know who to talk to.

Sometimes I feel like, it's just too much for the same person who have been listening to your countless rants to continue listening to you.

I don't know.

Oh well.

On a side note, I can't wait for my finals to be over. Two left but so far from now. One's on Friday and the last one is in a week.

The DIP - What Happen When We Are Going Through Spiritual Low

Suffering Injustice

It happens to all of us.

Discern The Dip:

- Dip of disobedience

There's always a consequence if you disobey.

- Dip of ignorant

When you're ignorant and you don't know that you are, you are on the slippery slope in life.

Life is not going to automatically treat you fairly. Be watchful and not ignorant.

When we experience these - We need to REPENT.

(repent: to turn your way around)

God will never ever be turned off by your honesty. He knows what is going to come out of your mouth anyway.

There is another kind of Dip:

- Divine Dip: not because of our disobedience and ignorant.

God allows IT to happen to build character!

When your Divine Dip is: Injustice/Treat Unjustly

1 Peter 2:19-21

For God is pleased with you when you do what you know is right and patiently endure unfair treatment. Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you. For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

How should we respond?

What happens IN you is more important that what happens to you.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Put your Faith in God - Remember His Faithfulness

God is the master of trials and sufferings.

God wants you to be more mature and independent.

God wants to use those trials and sufferings and turn them into something beautiful and glorious.

We are so small compared to all of God's creations.

How do we know if anything is good or bad? We don't have and won't have any idea.

But we should always trust in Our God.

Remember that God is NOT mad at you, but He is mad ABOUT you.

Embrace those things that God placed in your life and pray and ask for the teachings through your trials and sufferings because there's always a purpose on why they are happening.

watched an episode of undercover boss last night.

so we should really try to live in the moment.

since they were still studying either in LA, or SF.

but now, everyone is back.
